Welcome to the Zhao Research Group
The Zhao Lab develops novel polymeric biomaterials for various biomedical applications, with emphasis on drug delivery and tissue engineering. The projects are driven by developing new technologies for the treatment of specific diseases, polymeric vectors for gene therapy, and biomimetic scaffolds to enhance tissue regeneration.
Prof. Zhao
Prof. Chao Zhao received his Ph. D. degree at the University of Akron in 2013, under the supervision of Prof. Jie Zheng in the Department of Chemical and Biomoleculer Engineering. He was a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Prof Peter. X. Ma at the University of Michigan during 2013-2016 and in the laboratory of Prof. Daniel Kohane and Prof. Robert Langer at Harvard Medical School and MIT during 2016-2018. He also holds a BE degree in Polymer Materials and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in China and a MS degree in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University in China. He joined the Department of Chemical and Biological engineering at The Univeristy of Alabama as an Assistant Professor as of July 2018.
